We are gathered

Beloved is the word
we share round
today’s wedding of
reader and poet.

We ring this word
hither and dear
with each waltz
into the microphone.

Any among us
who don’t care
go get some sleep.
Come back tomorrow.

Everyone else
look beside you.
One at each table
has a voice to give
couples who stumble.

Here they come
slow now
so be careful
with your beloved.
