About Scott Hardy

East Tennessee native Scott Hardy relishes and joyfully replicates the unique conversational cadence of Appalachia. Sharing his stories on paper and on stage as a stand-up comic, he challenges the common caricature portrayal of everyday mountain folk. He reveals their prolific dry wit that is a cherished regional staple.

For 7 seasons of the Ellen DeGeneres show, Scott has made sure that his Nana Gladys Hardy gets through loud and clear for millions to enjoy. Some have even speculated that Scott is Gladys. Scott responds, "Honestly, Gladys is much more real than I am, and we are blessed to still have her."

Scott lives with Gladys and his wife Christine on 8.5 acres in central Texas known as Hardy-Hayes Refuge, a 501 (C) (3) with the sole mission of assisting shelter dogs suffering from severe neglect to getting proper medical treatment, healed, and placed into forever homes.

Scott is also a firefighter, kids show performer, and viral vloger (video blogger) on YouTube and is known as "Uncle Mullet."
