Steve is a retired history professor from California State University at Long Beach. He's currently on the board of directors of Clatsop Community College, and teaches classes in the ENCORE program. He's written extensively on social, political and religious issues, and has been writing a column in Hipfish for over 5 years.

Thom Hartmann, an adroit scholar, writer and speaker, conversant in a wide variety of fields is generally known for his nightly news and opinion program, “The Big Picture.” Hartmann has stated a number of times on his program, as well as in print, that the US Constitution never gave the Supreme Court the power to pass on the constitutionality of a congressional law.

One of the things that most puzzles me about the “pro-life” crowd is that these are the same people who choose to ignore the obvious daily evidence of global warming, the extinction of 200 species a day, the turning of our oceans into carbonic acid to the detriment of all sea life. Just what kind of world do the “pro-lifers” expect to be bringing all these babies with rights from the moment of conception into?
