I snapped this photo outside my shop. Many thanks to these Cannon Beach folks who showed public support for health and Mother Nature! They were marching in solidarity with Mexican farmers who on the same day celebrated Mexico’s ban of GMO corn. Thousands of people marched in more than 400 cities and more than 40 countries around the world.
GMO crops require intensive use of herbicides, which among other not-so-nice things kill the bees who are responsible for pollinating our crops. Bees are in severe decline, and we have very little time to do what is necessary to rectify this – probably at the most a couple of years. The extinction of bees could very well be paired with the extinction of the human race. Monsanto produces Roundup, an herbicide which has recently been found by the World Health Organization to be carcinogenic, and it is feared that the Monarch butterfly will become extinct because of this product. Important issue.
